2026 — my 17th year in Taiwan. Riding around Taiwan… it’s something I’ve always wanted to do, but never actually started. And somehow, it happens now— at the busiest time of my life. And not on the bike I dreamed of… but on a scooter. But maybe that’s exactly why this 48-hour ride feels more real than anything I imagined. No detailed plan. No perfect weather. From the very beginning, we’re thrown straight into strong coastal winds and pouring rain in the south. This isn’t an easy journey. It’s constant adjustment, pushing through, one kilometer at a time. From the brutal winds of the South Link, to the mess in Taitung, to the pressure—and beauty—of the Suhua Highway… and finally, ending the day in thick fog at Baimi Forest Road. Day 1— far from perfect. Honestly, kind of a mess. But that’s what makes it real. Some views… we didn’t have time to stop for. Some regrets… maybe they’re just reasons to come back again. I’m Chris.
