Gundog training: The basics and benefits

In this video, canine behaviourist and dog trainer Adem Fehmi explains the benefits of, and how to teach, the basics of gundog training. Adem BSc (Hons) is a canine behaviourist and trainer who enjoys taking his gundogs out on shoots. The gundog group includes breeds such as Retrievers, Pointers and Spaniels and these dogs are bred to use gundog skills such as flushing, setting and retrieving. Adem tells us what is meant by those terms and explains that if such a dog is not given the opportunity to use those skills then behavioural problems can arise. Even if you don't want to join in with shoots, or trials, teaching your gundog to use the skills he has been bred for can be an enriching experience for both dog and owner.
