From Homelessness to Outdoor Leader: Harry’s Journey of Purpose | King's Trust Awards 2025

Harry, 23, from Coventry, has overcome more than most his age. After losing his mum young, Harry faced a turbulent childhood, struggled with the law, and experienced homelessness. His mental health reached crisis point, leading to hospitalisation. When he was discharged, he had nowhere stable to live and spent time sofa surfing. During this low point, Harry sought support from a local homelessness charity St Basil’s, where he found out about The King’s Trust Get Started in Outdoor Leadership programme. That moment changed everything. Today, Harry is building a future with purpose, using the outdoors as a path to growth and purpose. 👑 This is Harry’s story.
