The owner asked for help with the 4WD system not working, the transfer case not shifting, and so on. This malfunction manifested itself as follows: when the ignition was turned on, the dashboard displayed the messages "HDC system malfunction" and "gearbox malfunction," along with a triangle, a circle arrow, and an exclamation point. Additionally, near the automatic transmission shift lever, there is a switch for the all-wheel drive transfer case (off-road mode), etc. This switch blinked and went out when the ignition was turned on, and did not respond to mode changes. Diagnostics using the professional multi-brand scanner Launch x431 pro 3S or similar (Ediag, Kingbolen, Diagzon, Mucar, Autel, etc.) revealed a lack of communication with the all-wheel drive control unit or the all-terrain vehicle, as indicated by the associated units. The Haldex all-wheel drive unit itself failed to establish communication. We decided to access the control unit mounted directly on the rear axle, remove its connector, and check for the necessary power for communication. It turned out there was no signal from one of the digital CAN buses. We then had to visually inspect the wiring, which was located in a rather inaccessible area, and discovered frayed insulation, leading to a rotted wire. After repairing this wire, the control unit established communication and all the vehicle's systems functioned normally.
