Mary Stuart, Regina di Scozia

#history #marystuart #queenofscotland The life of Mary Stuart, Italianized as Maria Stuarda, who was crowned Queen of Scots at birth. Mary fled the Anglo-Scottish wars to go to France to marry the Dauphin Francis, son of Henry II. She spent her youth there and received an impeccable education. But upon her husband's death, she returned to Scotland to address the religious division that had arisen after the clashes with England's Elizabeth I. Although she was Catholic, she had to accept Protestant supremacy, but continued to aspire to Elizabeth's throne. She married Henry Stuart's Catholic cousin, Lord Darnley, who died following a murder for which Mary herself was accused. Shortly thereafter, she married the Earl of Bothwell, her husband's alleged murderer, and the Scottish people turned against her, imprisoning her. Mary managed to escape and, following another defeat, fled to England. After nineteen years of imprisonment, she was executed. ------------------------------ If you want to stay updated on the channel's activities or other historical curiosities, you can also find me on: Instagram:   / scioglierei.  .
