He dispels the myth of the Scandinavian origins of Mieszko I and the first Piast dynasty, emphasizing the lack of any archaeological, genetic, or source evidence. A significant amount of space is devoted to the Viking emporium at Truso – the only Scandinavian trading settlement in Poland where a significant amount of amber and dirhams have been discovered.
