Rhaenyra Keeps Making Mistakes… But This Season Is AMAZING | HOTD S3E4 Review
I'm reviewing **Episode 4 of House of the Dragon Season 3, and at this point... this season just keeps getting better. If you've followed my previous reviews, you know I was disappointed by the second half of Season 2. It felt like the story slowed down too much and wasn't delivering on all the tension it had built. Season 3 has completely changed my opinion. Four episodes in, and this has been one of the strongest starts the series has ever had. One of my favorite parts of this episode was finally meeting Daeron Targaryen. Fans of George R.R. Martin's Fire & Blood have been waiting a long time for his introduction, and the show presents him as compassionate, honorable, and still carrying the youthful optimism that makes him stand out from many of the other Targaryens. Early reviews have highlighted Daeron's debut as one of the episode's biggest strengths and praised the performance for bringing warmth to a family often defined by ambition and conflict. Meanwhile, Rhaenyra Targaryen continues to prove why leadership is so difficult. I still think she's one of the most compelling characters on television, and Emma D'Arcy continues to deliver an incredible performance. But she's making mistakes. The way she treats certain allies and advisors is creating unnecessary tension, and every decision she makes seems to create another enemy. That's one of the things I love about this show—good intentions don't always lead to good outcomes. Then there's Daemon Targaryen. Daemon remains one of the most fascinating characters in the series, but he continues making questionable decisions. His handling of information involving Rhaena and his lack of honesty with the queen only adds to the growing distrust within the Blacks. Every lie has consequences, and this episode makes it clear those consequences are getting harder to avoid. What impressed me most was the balance. This episode has: political intrigue emotional performances character development shocking moments and excellent attention to detail It's proving that House of the Dragon doesn't need nonstop dragon battles to be compelling—as long as the writing and performances stay this strong. 🎬 In this video: My full Episode 4 review Daeron Targaryen's long-awaited debut Rhaenyra's leadership mistakes Daemon's questionable decisions The episode's strongest performances Why Season 3 continues to exceed my expectations 👇 Let me know: What did you think of Daeron's introduction? And do you think Rhaenyra and Daemon are making mistakes that will come back to haunt them later this season?
