Castello di Proceno e Albergo Diffuso

In the living room in front of the fireplace, cocooned by the crackling of the fire, it's a pleasure to listen to Countess Cecilia Cecchini Bisoni talk about Proceno and its castle. We are in the northernmost corner of Lazio, a strip of land between Tuscany and Umbria, where the border between the Grand Duchy of Tuscany and the Papal States once stood. A strategic location then and now for tourists eager to explore the wonderful towns of central Italy, such as Radicofani, Acquapendente, Orvieto, Pienza, Montepulciano, Tarquinia, Tuscania, Bolsena, and many others, all within a half-hour or so drive. And then there's the castle, a fortified tower with one of the 19 drawbridges still in operation in Italy, and the underground chambers with an Egyptian tomb. In short, a must-see place that even has, in the buildings adjacent to the castle, an albergo diffuso (a hotel spread across several hotels) with accommodations for various types of families or groups of friends.
