Yin Yoga for Runners

Yin Yoga is a slower style, targetting the myofascia of the body, a clingfilm like wrap which surrounds all muscles fibres, layering over itself and serves to support and create inter-connectedness in the whole body. Yin also works into the energetic pathways of Chinese Medicine, working on the emotional, physical and mental aspects of the organs and the meridian lines. In this class we work on the muscles which we use in running, particularly the back of the both the lower and upper legs, the plantar fascia, the gastrocnemius, soleus and the hamstrings. We also work into the front of the thighs, the quads and back of the hips, the glutes and external rotators. Throughout the class variations and modifications are offered, so that everybody can do the class, and the teacher goes through target area and where you want to feel the pose in your body. She talks about the benefits of the practice and the emotional and mental qualities that go with working through these muscles.
