Hobart Surprised Me — 4 Days Exploring Tasmania's Capital & Beyond | Tasmania Part 2

Hobart surprised me, and I wasn't expecting it to. In this travel vlog, I spend time exploring Hobart and the surrounding region over a few days, from the historic sandstone streets of Battery Point to the charming heritage town of Richmond, with stops at Cascade Brewery, Mount Wellington, and the Royal Tasmanian Botanical Gardens. This is Part 2 of my Tasmania series — Part 1 covers the stunning east coast!    • I Spent a Week in Tasmania — Here's What S...   📖 Tasmania Guide: https://www.scenicroutetraveler.com/t... 🌿 WHAT I EXPLORED 🏘️ Battery Point — Hobart's oldest neighbourhood, sandstone cottages, village green, and waterfront walks 🚶 Salamanca Place & Princes Wharf — converted warehouses, working harbour and views across the Derwent ☕ North Hobart — Elizabeth Street's independent café and restaurant strip, where locals actually eat 🍷 Coal River Valley — a quick look at Tasmania's growing cool-climate wine scene on the drive out 🌉 Richmond — Richmond Bridge (1823, the oldest road bridge still in use in Australia), heritage main street, Coal River Walking Track 🍺 Cascade Brewery — Australia's oldest continuously operating brewery, running since 1832 ⛰️ Mount Wellington — 1,270 metres above Hobart, dramatic views on a clear day (and dramatic clouds when it's not) 🌿 Royal Tasmanian Botanical Gardens — free entry, established 1818, including the remarkable subantarctic plant house This video contains affiliate links. It's small, walkable, and has a genuinely distinct character built on convict-era sandstone, a working waterfront, and a food and wine scene that punches well above its size. Pair it with a day trip to Richmond and a clear morning on Mount Wellington, and you've got a city worth several days of your time. 📅 WHEN TO VISIT ☀️ Summer (Dec–Feb): Long days, best chance of clear skies on Mount Wellington, peak season 🍂 Autumn (Mar–May): Ideal light, fewer crowds, great for walking 🌸 Spring (Sep–Nov): Mild, wildflowers in the botanical gardens, unpredictable weather ❄️ Winter (Jun–Aug): Cold and dramatic, snow on the mountain, very quiet 💡 HOBART TRAVEL TIPS ✓ Battery Point is a great base — walkable to Salamanca and the waterfront in minutes ✓ Richmond is an easy 25-minute drive from central Hobart — half day is enough ✓ Mount Wellington weather changes fast — check conditions before driving up ✓ The Botanical Gardens are free and worth an hour, especially the subantarctic plant house ✓ North Hobart's Elizabeth Street is where to eat — book ahead for dinner on weekends ✓ Cascade Brewery tours run daily — worth booking if you want the full experience 🧭 TRAVEL RESOURCES 📱 eSIM (used on this trip): https://saily.tpx.lu/dua1Bx66 🏠 Hostels: Hostelworld https://hostelworld.tpx.lu/CFRrWjPK ✈️ Flights & Hotels: Expedia https://expedia.tpx.lu/HkUyqX1Z 🌍 Travel Insurance I Use: https://visitorscoverage.tpx.lu/UFqjJH51 📲 LET'S CONNECT Instagram: @erinparro_travel TikTok: @erinparro_travel Pinterest: @erin_parro #hobarttravel #tasmaniatravel #hobartaustralia #batterypoint #richmondtasmania #cascadebrewery #mountwellington #salamancaplace #australiatravel #tasmaniavlog #visitaustralia #travelvlog #scenicroutetraveler #travelaustralia #hobartfood #coalrivervalley #royalbotanicalgardens #tasmaniaexplored Chance, Luck, Errors in Nature, Fate, Destruction As a Finale by Chris Zabriskie is licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 license. https://creativecommons.org/licenses/...
