What is the relationship between freedom and the architecture of the city? Freedom is the purpose and substance of urban design, which consists in the tension between foreseeing and happening and in the ability to prefigure the vital coexistence of spaces, bodies, and plural species. Annalisa Metta, full professor of Landscape Architecture at Roma Tre University and Italian Fellow at the American Academy in Rome (2016/17), studies and designs open spaces. She is co-founder of the Osa studio, with which, in 2012, she designed Bosco Italia, the Italian Pavilion at the Venice Architecture Biennale. Her latest books include: Il paesaggio è un mostro. Città selvatiche e nature ibride (DeriveApprodi, 2022), Alberi! 30 frammenti di storia d’Italia (Marsilio Arte, 2022).
