August 2025 - Team Yasubeman's Summer Dried Squid Tour. The boat was Marumanmaru in Akabane Port, Aichi Prefecture. This boat doesn't usually do shared squid trips, but we charter one almost every year. There were 18 of us, but not everyone fishes; we just went along with it (lol). The southwest wind was strong that morning, and it looked like it was going to be rough! It took us nearly two hours to get to the fishing spot. There seemed to be only two other boats around us. However, despite the rough weather, the squid were biting well, and we all felt like we were in it to do it! We were all regulars at Gibeimaru in Nagai Port, so we were free to use any weights and tackle we wanted! Naturally, there were a lot of fun activities. But since we were just friends, we just went along with it. However, the potential off the coast of Mt. Daisen was high, and if the squid were there, they would bite! I caught 10 fish twice!! The water depth was shallow that day, at 180-200m, so I was able to cast multiple times and enjoy multiple catches and a good catch for the first time in a while. However, the seas had been bad all morning, so some of us had to take breaks and some had to drop out. Since our team's motto is to have fun, we called it a day after about three hours. The captain seemed to enjoy watching us and wanted to keep going, but Captain Yasubeman apparently convinced him to go home (lol). I caught 65 fish, and Boy A next to me caught 51, for a one-two finish!! I think it was because I had a good seat, but we had a lot of fun in a short amount of time!
