石廊崎沖スルメイカ釣りデビューは束釣り♪

August 2025 - Squid fishing off Irozaki. Wow! This was my first time squid fishing off Irozaki. My debut boat was the Hidemaru from Minami Izu. The boat was clean, the fishing seats were spacious, and the captain was kind and friendly. It was a great boathouse. All the boathouses in Minami Izu only offer shared boats with small groups, so you can fish at a relaxed pace. Since this was my first time, I was taken by a certain Captain S from Sagami Bay. Off Irozaki, which has a reputation for being a great place to fish, there were so many squid, and I was surprised at how big they were! My impression... well, you can catch them! You get a bite just by dropping the bait! I was limited to 10 rigs, so I used 10, but I usually use a lot of them, so the range of depth felt narrow and that was probably a bit of a hesitation. The water depth on this day was 170-200m. I used a DAIWA Seaborg 600MJ reel for squid fishing for the first time, but the spool was so big I had trouble using it properly (lol). I had a lot of failures, but my biggest catch was eight, and I mostly caught three or four throughout the day, so I was glad I managed to catch a bunch. You can watch each scene on Squid.
