2 days driving 1,400 km across Western Australia

This was the LONGEST drive! 🚙 After exploring the gorges and red landscapes of Karijini National Park, it's time to begin the long journey back to Perth. In this episode, we leave one of Australia's most remote national parks and drive hundreds of kilometres through the Western Australian outback, following the Great Northern Highway south. Along the way we pass road trains, mining towns, gold rush settlements and some of the most isolated communities in the country. We stop in Newman, travel through historic gold towns including Cue, Mount Magnet and Paynes Find, and learn how prospectors still search for gold across the outback today. We also experience one of Australia's biggest road train convoys, discover why some remote towns feel frozen in time, and spend the night in a dusty former gold rush settlement. Before reaching Perth, we make a stop in New Norcia, Australia's only monastic town. Founded by Spanish Benedictine monks in the 19th century, New Norcia has a complex history that includes both remarkable achievements and difficult chapters involving Aboriginal communities.
