We drove 1,400km to visit THIS Australian national park

Would you go here? Karijini National Park is often described as the highlight of a Western Australia road trip, but surprisingly few visitors make it to this remote corner of the Pilbara. In this video, we drive from Karratha to Karijini National Park, camp at Karijini Eco Retreat and explore some of the park's most famous attractions, including Hancock Gorge, Weano Gorge and Joffre Gorge. Visiting at the end of the dry season means the waterfalls have stopped flowing and many of the swimming holes are stagnant, but it also means fewer visitors and dramatic conditions, with temperatures reaching 42°C. We hike through ancient gorges carved into some of the oldest rocks on Earth, learn about the geology and Aboriginal significance of the area, encounter road trains crossing the Pilbara and discover why so many travellers rate Karijini as the best national park in Western Australia. If you're planning a Western Australia road trip, visiting the Pilbara, travelling from Perth to Exmouth, or looking for things to do in Karijini National Park, this video shows what to expect, how challenging the hikes really are and what the park looks like during one of the hottest times of the year.
