Flight 012 was filled with the desire to conquer the Trans-Amazonian Highway (BR 230). To do this, it was necessary to begin the journey in the early morning and undertake a night flight through the vast Amazon rainforest. Night travel has its own particular characteristics: low lighting and reduced visibility of the road and the forest as a whole. It demands greater concentration and keen eyes. Crossing the Amazon in a Volkswagen Beetle, in the middle of winter on the Trans-Amazonian Highway, requires planning, courage, confidence in the Beetle, and concentration to avoid mistakes. Fortunately, everything went well during this night trip along the Trans-Amazonian Highway, and it was possible to cross the border between the states of Pará and Amazonas. Traveling through the Amazon rainforest at night, observing the moon and the giant trees, was a remarkable and unforgettable experience. As always, the Beetle performed well, even with the challenges posed by the road and its numerous and enormous potholes. We continued towards Machu Picchu – Peru, traveling through our beautiful Amazon rainforest. The journey continues with our wanderings through the giant Amazon.
