Skigebiet Saas-Fee/Saastal: Skifahren inmitten von 18 Viertausendern

Skiing in Saas-Fee/Saastal, surrounded by 18 four-thousand-meter peaks and imposing glaciers: Explore one of the best ski resorts in the Swiss Alps. Want to visit Saas-Fee too? Here's a suggested itinerary: https://homeoftravel.de/dein-perfekte... After arriving, we leave the car in the parking garage at the entrance to the village. Saas-Fee is car-free. An electric taxi picks us up and takes us to the hotel. Along the way, we pass charming wooden houses and catch our first glimpses of the magnificent mountain scenery all around us. The view from the balcony is also breathtaking. We end the day with this vista, as we plan to head up the mountain early the next morning. We aim to reach the Mittelallalin mountain station just in time for sunrise. This means the alarm rings at 6:00 a.m., and we're off on the first cable car up the mountain just before 7:00 a.m. During the ascent, it's still dark. The moon shines over the mountain peaks. On the other side, we look back at the lights of Saas-Fee. Once we reach the top, at 3,500 meters, it's already getting light. The sky to the east turns orange-red, and a little later, the sun comes out. Beautiful! Then we strap on our skis. We're the first ones on the mountain, so we're the first to carve our tracks down the slopes. The snow is fantastic. Every turn is pure fun. We whiz past shimmering blue masses of ice that stretch across the surrounding mountainsides and peer into deep crevasses. The scenery is breathtaking! And this is where one of the longest runs in the Alps begins. We descend over 1,800 meters and cover almost 14 kilometers to reach the valley floor in Saas-Fee. My thighs are definitely feeling it by the time we get down to the village. That was quite a workout! Afterwards, we continue on to Saas-Grund. There, we ski up to Kreuzboden and then down the fun slope. This fun run features rollers, banked turns, small jumps, and tunnels. And there's a piste patrolman who measures our speed. My top speed is 47 km/h. After that, we put our skis down and swap them for snowshoes. Accompanied by mountain guides Beat and Christian, we hike up to the Lagginjoch pass. We trudge up nearly 550 meters of elevation gain. This movement feels a bit strange at first, but I quickly get the hang of it. Just below the pass, there's a short scramble to negotiate, and then we reach our destination. The view from here is breathtaking. We gaze upon numerous 4,000-meter peaks. Among them are the Allalinhorn, Alphubel, Täschhorn, and Dom. On the other side, we can see all the way to Graubünden. Wow! After all that exertion, I'm really looking forward to a well-deserved break. And since we're in Switzerland, we'll end the day with a traditional cheese fondue. :) Thanks for watching!
