After arriving in Tröpolach, we check into the hotel. The Samerhof is within walking distance of the valley station and has a beautiful wellness area. I particularly like the pool with a view of the ski area. I'll take a dip in it later. First, though, it's off to the slopes. This is my first time at Nassfeld, and I'm excited to see what the ski resort has in store for us. We zip up to the ski area on the Millennium Express. This is the only gondola that takes skiers from the valley to the slopes. However, you can also stay overnight at Nassfeld right on the mountain. There are always hotels along the slopes. I've never seen anything like that in Austria. We enjoy our first run in the sunshine. This early in the morning, we have the slopes all to ourselves. It's fantastic! Then we head up to a "nice surprise" of the ski area. To be more precise, we trudge a few meters up the slope from the top station of the chairlift and reach the Sky Plate. The viewing platform seems to float above the abyss. It juts out into the void like a walkway. And it offers a fantastic view. We can see almost the entire ski area. And the view towards the Hohe Tauern is also fantastic. Among other things, the Großvenediger can be seen on the horizon. We continue to the speed course. On the way there, we pass a sundial. On average, the sun shines 100 hours more throughout the season in Nassfeld than in the Northern Alps. It's a crucial moment on the speed photo course. Will Felix or I be the first to reach the bottom? At least the fierce headwind isn't making things any easier for us. It'll steal a few km/h from us. No problem. Felix sets off. I whizz behind. I'm actually a few km/h faster. So the victory on the speed course goes to me. Time for a refreshment stop. My stomach is starting to rumble. There's slow food instead of fast food. That means all the food is locally sourced. I opt for a salad with baked mountain cheese. Delicious! The refreshment was necessary. Because to get back to the valley, we have to tackle the longest slope. Over 7 kilometers lie ahead of us. The first section is still quite flat and perfect for leisurely cruising. I particularly like the idyllic descent through the forest. And then we've made it. We'll head back to the hotel and end the evening in a relaxed atmosphere. Thanks for watching!
