The ICE 1038 we are taking today is one of four ICE trains that run nonstop between Ruhr and Hamburg. Thereby it passes through main stations of big cities like Münster and Osnabrück. Bremen gets only driven past using the the Bremer connection railway, which branches off from the railway Osnabrück - Bremen near Dreye and integrates to the railway Bremen - Hamburg at Sagehorn. Furthermore the train goes all the way along the "Rollbahn" railway, which begins in Wanne-Eickel (Ruhr) and ends in Hamburg. This railway is informed by the idyllic, flat swampland of the northern german lowlands. After Münster the railway is nearly permanent allowed for 200 km/h. But because of technical disruption the ICE wasn´t able to reach such a speed, instead it cruised through the fields with 150 km/h. So the designation "Sprinter" was not really appropriate that day. The disruption made the train depart delayed by 9 minutes and the lower speed highered the delayment up to 22 minutes until Hamburg.
