The route leads at first through Ruhr via Solingen, Wuppertal, Hagen and Dortmund and then to Berlin via Hamm, Bielefeld and Hannover. On the high speed railway Hannover - Berlin there are 250 km/h possible after Wolfsburg, which the train reached for a short period of time. During the journey the ICE 555 had a race with the ICE 545. According to plan the ICE 545 departs at 08:25 from Cologne main station, four minutes after the ICE 555 (it can be seen at the opposite side of the platform during departure from Cologne) and takes the route via Düsseldorf, Duisburg and Essen to Dortmund. From Dortmund to Berlin the ICE 545 is supposed to run behind the ICE 555, because it has some more intermediate stops. But until shortly before Dortmund the ICE 555 had built up some delay, so that the ICE 545 was let past first (visible at 0:31:58). So the ICE 555 went behind the ICE 545. But behind Wolfsburg the ICE 545 was leaded onto the opposite track and the ICE 555 overtook the ICE 545 (visible at 1:23:58). But the advance didn´t last long, because shortly after the ICE 555 had to stop on the open track and let the ICE 545 pass by again (visible at 1:25:18). Due to this manoeuvre, which i don´t know the purpose of, the ICE 545 reached Berlin-Spandau at 13:11 with a delay of 13 minutes. The ICE 555, which had to run behind ICE 545 for the rest of the high speed railway, arrived at Berlin-Spandau at 13:15 with a 28 minute delay.
