Every July 7th, the Biblical Novena to Our Lady of Mount Carmel begins with immense joy, a nine-day journey to draw closer to Jesus Christ through the intercession of the Blessed Virgin Mary, Mother of the Lord, Queen of Carmel, and refuge of those who seek her protection. On this first day, we contemplate one of the greatest moments in the history of salvation: the Annunciation of the Angel Gabriel to the Virgin Mary, recounted in the Gospel according to Saint Luke (1:26-38). God enters the history of humanity seeking the humble heart of a young woman from Nazareth. With a simple yet profound "Let it be done to me according to your word," Mary opens the way for the Savior to come into the world. This passage invites us to trust fully in God, even when we do not understand his plans. Mary teaches us that true greatness is born of humility, obedience, and faith. Her generous response continues to illuminate the path of millions of believers who find in her a loving Mother and a powerful intercessor.
