FASCINATING Otis scenic lifts in Hong Kong

Location: Prudential Hotel, 222 Nathan Road, Tsim Sha Tsui, Kowloon This is one of the most unique Otis installations I have ever come across, and undoubtedly one of the coolest lifts I filmed on this trip. Even though these have been refurbished, forget the fixtures! These are pretty quick for the number of floors they serve, and offer a nice view of Nathan Road below. The main stars here however, are the curved doors which have not been spotted in other Otis lifts before. There are circular Otis lifts with such doors, but looking from the exterior, those have their doors convexed outwards. These ones however, have their doors concaved inwards, and given these are not tubular lifts this makes it a one-of-a-kind installation, not to mention the odd cab shape too. They also have glass ceilings, which allow one to see up the shaft. Best of all, they still have the original controllers! Unfortunately, as unique and characterful as they are, being exposed to the outdoor elements have taken a toll on them. The rails are rusty, and these run pretty horribly. They weren't working on several days of my stay here, and I was also told by staff about how unreliable these are.
