A multiple day hike to the Clyde River Gorge starting from the Sassafras entrance in Morton National Park. The plan was to descend down from the Greame Mitchell Lookout on the Folly Point Track to the Clyde River some 500 odd metres, then camp on the river and continue upstream past multiple waterfalls including the magnificent Ryxons Waterfall where we will camp on day two. On day three continue upstream past Webbs Crown then find a break in the cliffline to connect with the Endrick River Firetrail and back to our cars. A very ambitious plan but nevertheless doable, our leader had in the past done the section from Greame Mitchell Lookout to Ryxons Waterfall only the next section was exploratory. Myself I had climbed down to the Clyde River Gorge and camped on the river near Ryxons Waterfall. But after four consecutive years of above average rainfall after the devestating bushfires of 2020 the regrowth has created an impenetrable jungle where even if you carry secatours and fishing knives is not enough. This is the new reality and past events is just that past events.
