The Great Ocean Road is Australia's Best Road Trip? We Found Out

Is the Great Ocean Road Australia’s BEST road trip? We’re on a mission to find out. The Great Ocean Road is famous for its ocean-side drives and the iconic stops along the way, especially the 12 Apostles and Great Otway National Park. It’s located in Victoria, on the south coast of Australia… but is it really the best road trip? Let’s find out! 😄 We start our road trip at The Grotto, arguably one of the best stops on the Great Ocean Road, and then move on to Australia’s “London Bridge” … what a name 😅 After that, we roll into Port Campbell (which ended up being such a vibe!) before heading to the main event: the 12 Apostles. Now… we expected it to be way busier, and we definitely expected there to be 12 apostles… turns out there aren’t many left! 😂 None the less, it’s still an iconic natural landmark in Australia and a must-visit on the Great Ocean Road… even if you’re scared of heights! 😊 Next up: Great Otway National Park. Who would’ve thought the Great Ocean Road would have a proper rainforest along the way? As if it couldn’t get any better 😂 This place is packed with waterfalls, scenic walks, and campgrounds (and yes… some are FREE 😮). We spend the night here and then visit the Californian Redwood trees the next day… OMG. We did not expect this; it might honestly be one of the best things we’ve seen in Australia… magical 😍 From here, we head to Apollo Bay, grab a coffee, explore the town, and then hit the stretch that feels like the REAL Great Ocean Road drive… we were not ready for it 😮 It’s breathtaking. Truly. Finally, we arrive in Lorne, one of the last stops on our road trip (cockatoo central!). We visit Teddy’s Lookout and Erskine Falls before heading to the iconic Great Ocean Road sign... an obvious stop! And our BONUS location? Bells Beach! An iconic surfing spot… and it still looks cool in the rain 😅 So… is the Great Ocean Road really Australia’s BEST road trip? It’s a HARD YES: based on the views, the stops, and how accessible and easy this road trip is to do! 😊 Oh, and one last thing… the Great Ocean Road isn’t just one of Australia’s most iconic drives, it’s actually the world’s largest war memorial. It was built by returned servicemen after World War I, as both a tribute to those who served and a way to provide work for veterans. So, while you’re soaking up the views, you’re also travelling along a road with a pretty powerful story behind it ❤️ Filmed in July 2025. ☕ Support us here: https://ko-fi.com/jamesandjosietravel ($2.50 = 1 Ampol Coffee) 😆 👇 Everything we use: (Some links are affiliate; we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you) 🌍 All of our travel must-haves - https://www.amazon.co.uk/shop/jamesan... 🐶 How we get FREE accommodation...
