Today our tour is in TOLEDO / MG, marking the beginning of our winter season in July/2026. We strolled through the city center and visited the MUNICIPAL LAKE, a postcard of the city. Toledo is a city in the state of Minas Gerais. The inhabitants are called Toledanos. The municipality extends over 136.8 km² and had 158,620 inhabitants in the last census. The population density is 1,159.7 inhabitants per km² in the municipality's territory. Toledo is located 40 km northwest of Cascavel. Situated at an altitude of 550 meters, Toledo has the following geographical coordinates: Latitude: 24° 42' 50'' South, Longitude: 53° 44' 34'' West. Toledo is a municipality in southern Minas Gerais, nestled in the Serra da Mantiqueira mountain range. With approximately 7,214 inhabitants (IBGE 2022), it stands out for its tranquility, natural beauty, and mild climate. Access is via the highways that cross Extrema and the surrounding region, near the Fernão Dias Highway (BR-381). Municipal Events Park (Municipal Lake): A postcard-worthy spot in the city, it features a beautiful lake with paddle boats and an 1,800-meter walking trail. Waterfalls: Highlights include the Tamanduá Waterfall and other waterfalls in the mountainous region. Contemplative Tourism: Places like Pedra Limpa and Pedra do Carrasquiá offer panoramic views of the mountains. Local Culture: The central square houses the historic Chapel of São José, the city's patron saint. The primitive settlement of Campanha de Toledo was part of the region discovered by Simão de Toledo Piza, remaining a disputed territory between the Captaincies of São Paulo and Minas Gerais. Due to this fact, it was established that, on the left bank of the Camanducaia River, in the southern portion, the mines were under the jurisdiction of São Paulo, and, to the north, under the jurisdiction of Minas Gerais. In 1841, the chapel of São José was erected and, ten years later, the resulting settlement became a district, initially belonging to the municipality of Camanducaia and, later, to Extrema. The municipality received the names Campanha de Toledo, São José de Toledo, and finally TOLEDO. Its political emancipation occurred on December 27, 1953. We wish everyone a good entertainment.
