SANTOS / SP - VLT e a nova linha para o bairro VALONGO ( trecho 2 ) . 25/02/2026 .

Today our tour is on the VLT (Light Rail Transit), departing from São Vicente / SP, at the Emmerich station towards Santos / SP on the new line to the Valongo neighborhood. This section 2 covers 8 km and has 12 stations. Santos is a city in the state of São Paulo. Its inhabitants are called Santistas. The municipality covers 281.1 km² and had 418,608 inhabitants in the last census. The population density is 1,489.4 inhabitants per km² in the municipality's territory. Neighboring the municipalities of São Vicente, Cubatão and Guarujá, Santos is located 33 km southeast of Mauá. Situated at an altitude of 2 meters, Santos has the following geographical coordinates: Latitude: 23° 56' 13'' South, Longitude: 46° 19' 30'' West. The new (phase 2) Santos Light Rail line was inaugurated on December 1, 2025, connecting Avenida Conselheiro Nébias to Valongo (downtown), with 8 km of extension and 12 stations. The route passes through locations such as the Santos Bus Station and the Municipal Market, aiming to integrate public transport with tourism and local commerce, facilitating mobility. Main Details of the New Line (Valongo): Route: Connects Avenida Conselheiro Nébias (intermediate region) to the Valongo neighborhood (Historic Center), passing through streets such as Campos Melo, João Pessoa and Rua da Constituição. Stations: There are 12 new stops, including the Valongo Terminal and service near Poupatempo and universities. Initial Operation (Dec/2025): Operates on a reduced schedule, from 9 am to 3 pm, Monday to Saturday, for adaptation. Fare: Fare exemption on the new section for the first 15 days (until 12/15/2025), with charges starting later. Integration: Integrates with the Baixada Santista bus system and the first phase of the VLT, using the BR Mobilidade card. Expected: Full-time operation (5:30 am to 11:30 pm) should occur within six months after the inauguration.
