Mariano José Maria Bernardo Fortuny y Carbo

Mario Fortuny was one of the most original artists of the day, his procedure in painting was entirely unique and separate from the Ecole des beaux-arts of Paris. Even Meissonier and Gerome paid their respects to the young talent. Henri Regnault was his junior and when they met in Rome they were immediate friends-fellow artists on a journey of discovery.
