Hay fever, pollen allergy, or, more technically, pollinosis—all these terms refer to an allergic reaction of the body to the protein in various plant pollen. Many types of grasses and grains, as well as early-flowering trees like alder, hazel, and birch, frequently trigger this exaggerated immune response. The pollen is spread by the wind, among other things, and particularly irritates the sensitive mucous membranes of the eyes and upper respiratory tract. They react immediately upon contact with pollen with typical symptoms such as watery eyes, a runny nose, and coughing. However, skin reactions like hives, migraines, and fatigue are also possible effects of an allergic reaction. Many allergy sufferers experience a reduction in their quality of life for months as a result. How is hay fever treated? If your doctor has determined through various skin and blood tests that you suffer from hay fever, then during pollen season the main focus is on treating your acute symptoms. This is usually achieved with antihistamines such as cetirizine. These medications are available as sprays, drops, or tablets. They suppress the overreaction of the immune system to the pollen. Unfortunately, fatigue is a common side effect of some of these preparations. Therefore, take them before going to bed if possible. In cases of severe allergic reactions, your doctor may also prescribe cortisone to reduce inflammation. In addition to medication, nasal irrigation or steam baths can also provide relief. Did you know that diet can also play an important role? Those affected often report that a low-histamine diet can help. Histamine is the messenger substance that is released in excess in response to pollen allergens and triggers the immune response. More tips for hay fever? A balanced and nutrient-rich diet can help calm an overactive immune system. Additionally, be careful not to burden your immune system with lack of sleep, stress, or alcohol and nicotine. ... ▬ About this channel ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ With "Video Visit Dr. Weigl," you've found a current and medically sound channel that explains topics related to pain, medicine, and health in an understandable way, based on facts, guidelines, and studies. ▬ More videos ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ Hay fever & pollen allergy: Is it starting again?: https://bit.ly/Heuschnupfen_Video Dangerous allergy tablets?
