The Nagoya-Tokyo route can be traveled in an hour and a half using the Tokaido Shinkansen Nozomi, but there's also strong demand for affordable express buses, and the "Shin-Tomei Superliner" runs nonstop to downtown Tokyo, traveling along the Nagoya Expressway, Isewangan Expressway, Shin-Tomei Expressway, Tomei Expressway, and Shuto Expressway, with one hourly service. The fastest conventional line route between Nagoya and Tokyo isn't the Tokaido Main Line, but the Chuo Main Line, which is served by many of the Shinano and Azusa express trains. In fact, when the Tokaido Shinkansen is suspended, both trains become overcrowded with passengers. So, to see which of these two relatively fast travel options is faster when the Shinkansen isn't available, we compared them using uncut 6x speed and simultaneous dual-screen playback.
