Recovering Perfectionist | Sketchbook Rituals #3

What if your sketchbook became a ritual instead of a task? In this video, I’m sharing a look into my sketchbook practice and the rituals that has become one of the most grounding parts of my creative life. Most days begin the same way. I light a candle, pull a card or several, set an intention, paint intuitively, and end with a quick journal entry. The process shifts daily, but the ritual helps me slow down, pay attention, and reconnect with myself through art. Lately I’ve been reaching for tarot, oracle decks, and animal spirit cards depending on what I feel drawn to. Over time, collecting decks has become a bit of an obsession. I love how each one carries its own visual language, symbolism, and energy. Today’s Pull: The High Priestess (reversed), King of Swords (reversed) and Queen of Wands (reversed)  Tarot Deck: Rainbow Heart. I have both the large and pocket sizes of this deck. One I return to again and again. Artist illustrated, metallic edges, and made here in Portland = what's not to love!  Message:  These cards were all pulled as reversals, which once felt scary or negative when I was first learning tarot, but now I see otherwise. The High Priestess reversed feels like intuition trying to get to me through layers of noise and self doubt. The King of Swords reversed is the universe once again asking me to unclench my grip on perfectionism, a lifelong struggle at this point. And the Queen of Wands reversed? Perhaps it's a good time to set a "Do Not Disturb" and take a nap. Together, these cards feel less like warnings and more like an invitation to turn inward, stop performing constant self awareness, and rebuild trust in my intuition, body, creativity, and self worth from a more honest place. A pretty solid reminder, honestly.
