📋 Ingredients List 🥖 For the Dough: Flour: 4 cups Warm water: 1.5 cups (add gradually as it may vary depending on the quality of the flour) Instant yeast: 1 teaspoon Powdered sugar: 1 tablespoon Salt: 1 tablespoon 🥔 For the Filling: Potatoes: 4 (boiled) Cheddar cheese: Desired amount (grated, optional) Spices: Salt, red pepper flakes, black pepper, red chili powder 🧈 For Between and Topping: Butter: 200 gr (melted and cooled to room temperature) Vegetable oil: (As needed, for rolling out the dough or mixing with the butter) 👩🍳 Preparation 1. Kneading and Proofing the Dough Add instant yeast and granulated sugar to one cup of lukewarm water and mix. Let it sit for a few minutes to activate the yeast. Place the flour in a mixing bowl and make a well in the center. Pour the prepared yeast mixture and the remaining lukewarm water into the well. Sprinkle the salt around the flour to prevent it from directly contacting the yeast. Mix the ingredients well and knead until you have a soft dough that doesn't stick to your hands. Divide the dough into equal-sized balls, about the size of a tangerine. Cover the balls with a clean cloth and let them rest for 30 minutes. 2. Folding and Buttering Stage Lightly flour the top and bottom of the rested dough balls and roll them out to the size of a serving plate. Brush each layer generously with melted and cooled butter, stacking the dough balls on top of each other and repeating the process for all the dough balls. Once finished, cover the dough and let it rest in the refrigerator for 30 minutes to allow the butter to solidify. 3. Shaping (See Video Tutorial) Remove the buttered dough balls from the refrigerator, lightly flour the top and bottom again, and roll them out into a rectangular shape as large as possible. Spread the prepared potato filling evenly over the dough. Roll the dough into a roll and gently stretch it with your hands to thin it out. As shown in the video, make shallow cuts on the roll with a knife, without completely cutting through. Then, make more cuts diagonally across these cuts to create an elegant baklava/lattice pattern. After creating the pattern, slice the roll into portions of your desired thickness. Place the slices vertically on the baking tray (with the cut surfaces facing up and down) and gently press down on them with your hands to give them shape. 4. Baking Brush the shaped pastries with the remaining butter. Bake in a preheated 180°C oven until golden brown on top and bottom. ✨ Enjoy your meal!
