In this video, I took on an 8KG nasi lemak berempah challenge at Berempah Bros! This concept is by Derek Cheong, and they came up with a unique twist on the usual nasi lemak. The rice itself is a blend of chicken rice and nasi lemak, giving it a more fragrant profile. The highlight here is their chicken, which is soaked in a curry-infused brine before frying. This gives it a really juicy interior while keeping the outside crispy with a light, crunchy batter. It’s also topped with a Hong Kong-style typhoon shelter crumb, adding an extra layer of texture and flavour. They offer a variety of options including chicken, fish, pork, and even unagi! With how flavourful and well-executed everything was, it made the whole meal really enjoyable, this spot is definitely one worth checking out.
