Eersterust residents protest over poor services
The community of Eersterust, east of Pretoria, has shut down the township today over poor service delivery. The action is in retaliation to, especially, a lack of streetlights. The community's anger reached boiling point this past week after a young man was hijacked and killed in in front of his house. The community blames the lack of streetlights, which they claim has rendered them vulnerable to opportunistic criminal activity. SABC News reporter Patricia Visagie has more...
