Eersterust residents protest demanding services
With a high rate of youth unemployment in South Africa, young people are finding other means to create a future for themselves, but many are hindered by socio-economic challenges. This morning, we are broadcasting live from Eersterust, East of Pretoria. The community has faced many issues, including youth unemployment and substance abuse. Yesterday, residents of Eersterust marched to the local police station in protest after a 29-year-old man was gunned down last week by hijackers, who targeted his car. The residents are demanding increased police visibility, swift justice and better service delivery. Morning Live's Sakina Kamwendo speaks to Mobeen Davis, Eersterust community leader.
