Since construction began on Mageshima, the number of fish on display has gradually decreased to two-thirds, then half... Several fishing boats pass through the harbor in the morning, but all of them are flying the flag of a sea taxi. They do not actually fish, but instead carry workers and other related personnel between Mageshima and Tanegashima. On this day, only a few fish were caught at the auction at the market... Several people have pointed out that the fishing situation has changed, perhaps due to changes in ocean currents over the past few years, in addition to the impact of the rough weather that has continued for several days. Statistics show that as of last year, the Tanegashima Fisheries Cooperative's catch volume has already declined significantly compared to the 1980s. This year, the demand for sea taxis due to base construction has led to fewer fishing boats, and some areas have been designated fishing-restricted zones or have lost fishing rights, further accelerating this decline.
