One Small Harvest Turned Into a Huge Day on the Farm
One small harvest turned into a huge day on the farm. After months of planting, waiting, and hoping the weather would cooperate, summer harvest officially began. We started the day packing the mobile produce trailer, then headed to the field for our very first outdoor harvest of zucchini, cucumbers, yellow squash, and pickling cucumbers. After washing the pickles and getting the harvest into the cooler, the day kept rolling with more cucumber and zucchini planting, the beginning of garlic harvest, fall cabbage transplanting, sidedressing sweet corn with nitrogen, checking the green beans, and planting another round of green beans. This is the time of year when everything starts happening at once on a fresh market vegetable farm, and today was one of those days that showed just how quickly the season can ramp up. #farming #gardening #vegetablefarming #harvestseason #freshproduce
