Erzählen und kognitive Konstruktionsgrammatik (Grammatik in der Schule | SoSe 2026)

This session focuses on the connection between storytelling and cognitive construction grammar: Why are narratives particularly well-suited for teaching grammatical knowledge within the cognitive-linguistic paradigm? In contrast to traditional school grammar, which often analyzes isolated sentences, the construction-grammatical approach views language as a holistic phenomenon. Using the children’s book Das Land ohne Buchstaben (Georg Willroda, 1958) as a basis, central cognitive principles such as perspectivation, action chains, and semantic roles (deep cases) will be demonstrated in practice, and approaches to functional and motivating grammar instruction in the classroom will be tested.
