Une Gen Z nous dit ce qu’elle ne fera pas comme ses parents au travail
Laurène Lévy, @laulevy on social media, is 27 years old and refreshingly outspoken. A spokesperson for Generation Z (those born after 1995), this influencer and content pro denounces the bad practices of "toxic" companies through humorous and thought-provoking videos. She speaks particularly to young people, advising them on their rights in the workplace. We asked her what she won't do like her parents in her professional life! #1 Stay at the same company for 20 years Doing the same tasks, seeing the same people, never breaking out of the daily grind: this is what awaited previous generations at work, and what Laurène Lévy categorically refuses! According to a study by France Travail, members of Gen Z will hold an average of 12 different jobs during their lifetime. This is a real advantage for this generation, since Laurène believes that changing jobs is very stimulating. #2 Don't Negotiate Your Salary and Accept the First Offer Right Away Previous generations tended to accept without negotiating because they were very grateful and afraid of missing out. Today, the balance of power has clearly shifted, and Gen Z candidates don't hesitate to negotiate right from the hiring stage… and not just their salary! It can also involve remote work, which remains very important to them. #3 Stay in a Job You Don't Like, Just for the Security of a Permanent Contract "What, wait a minute, you're not going to leave a permanent contract?!" That was the reaction of Laurène's family and friends when she told them she wanted to leave her permanent job because of her bad experience. Yet, Laurène is sure of herself: there's no way she's sacrificing her mental health and her desire to find meaning in her daily life for a permanent contract. #4 Never Question the Hierarchy Until now, management tended to be hierarchical, which prevented employees from questioning their superiors' decisions. Today, there's a growing trend towards a more horizontal management style, which is healthier because it fosters communication and allows employees to be more engaged. #5 Sacrifice Your Personal Life for Your Work Laurène's goal? To not miss out on life and have to wait until retirement to enjoy it. Sacrificing her work-life balance for the sake of her job is out of the question! #work #welcometothejungle
