Innsbrucker Mittelgebirgsbahn - also known colloquially as Mittelgebirgsbahn, Igler, Sechser or Waldstraßenbahn - is the name given to today's Line 6 of the Innsbruck tramway. The 8, 362-kilometre-long metre-gauge interurban tramway was originally licensed as a light railway. It provides access to the Paschberg, located south-east of Innsbruck on the low mountain range that gave the railway its name. The line was opened in 1900 and since then has connected the Innsbruck district of Wilten with the villages of Aldrans, Lans, Sistrans and Igls. Formerly an important means of local transport, today it is an excursion railway to the popular urban recreation area. In earlier years, the lines to and from Igls were connected to the city centre several times, but today all journeys end at the peripheral Bergisel station, where there is a connection to Line 1.
