In 2025, the Mariazellerbahn was officially voted “Austria’s Most Beautiful Place” in the nationwide ORF television competition 9 Plätze – 9 Schätze, recognizing the railway not only as a transport line, but as one of the country’s most iconic cultural and scenic landmarks.
