In this video, I explain why highly empathetic people are often drawn to the authenticity or vulnerability of others rather than their ego, and how this quality has a downside: self-neglect. We also discuss this very common block among highly sensitive people: knowing intellectually what to do (set a boundary, express a need, sometimes leave), and not being able to do it. The fear of hurting others, the emotional burden that hinders action, and why understanding isn't always enough. Finally, we'll discuss how to reclaim power in a relationship: becoming aware of your needs, expressing them, setting firm boundaries, and knowing how to choose yourself when nothing changes.
