Hi everyone! thank you so much for tuning in to my Senior Recital! its a pleasure to have you! For this recital, I put together all kinds of music from all over the musical Cannon, and i brought some special guests to help dazzle all of you! William Bolcom is a popular American composer and pianist. He wrote four volumes of Cabaret Songs that reflect the spirit of classic American popular music, but with an operatic twist. These songs were originally written for and premiered by his wife, Joan Morris, and the two continue to perform them together to this day. Oh, Close the Curtain, is a piece based on that well-known feeling of finding out that the people you’ve been working hard to get an “in” with are actually horrible. The wishy-washy atmosphere of this party is heard in crawling lines that seem to play with the tempo endlessly, reflecting how dragged out this “party” feels.
