When God Calls You Out of What’s Familiar

What do you do when the familiar place feels safer than the faithful step? In today’s Bible study with me, we’re in Matthew 14 looking at Peter walking on water. The disciples are in the middle of a storm on the Sea of Galilee, and Jesus has come to them on the water. Peter says, “Lord, is it you? If it is, tell me to come to you on the water.” And Jesus says, “Come.” This daily Christian devotional is about faith, courage, obedience, and trusting God when he calls us out of what feels familiar. The boat may be known. The boat may feel comfortable. The boat may feel safer than stepping onto the water. But if Jesus is calling, there is adventure on the other side of obedience. Today, we’re talking about what it means to get out of the boat, keep your eyes on Jesus, take a step of faith, and follow God into a new chapter even when the wind is still blowing.
