When You Feel Like You’re Sinking

What do you pray when you feel like you’re sinking? In today’s Bible study with me, we’re finishing the story of Jesus walking on water in Matthew 14. Peter gets out of the boat, walks toward Jesus, notices the wind, becomes afraid, and begins to sink. Then he cries out one simple, honest prayer: “Lord, save me.” And right away, Jesus reaches out his hand and catches him. If you’ve ever felt overwhelmed, afraid, messy, too far gone, or beyond saving, this daily Christian devotional is your reminder that Jesus is near. You don’t have to clean yourself up before you call out to him. You don’t need perfect words. You can simply cry out to Jesus right where you are. Today, we’re talking about faith, doubt, rescue, worship, the mercy of Jesus, and learning to see where God has been with us in the storm. When Peter starts to sink, Jesus catches him. When the disciples realize who Jesus is, they worship. And when we look back and see how Jesus carried us through, worship can become our response too.
