I'll show you how to know if you're really recovered after a knee replacement, with 5 easy and safe home tests that you can do from home, without the need for special materials. ✅ What will you find in this video? I'll show you step by step 5 physical and functional tests that we use in physical therapy to assess whether a person is doing well after knee surgery, whether for osteoarthritis, a total knee replacement, or a partial prosthesis. Sit to Stand (30-second sit-to-stand) Measures the strength and endurance of the operated leg. It's an essential test in knee replacement rehabilitation. If you still have difficulty standing up without using your hands, it's a sign of lack of strength. One-leg balance test Evaluates your postural control, which is essential after surgery. Many people with a limp after knee replacement fail this test. Mobility: flexion and extension of the operated knee If you can't reach 120° of flexion or can't fully extend your knee, you need to continue working. Lack of mobility is one of the most common causes of incomplete recovery. VAS Pain Scale Chronic pain after knee surgery is not normal. I'll explain how to use the VAS scale (0-10) to measure your pain level at rest and during movement. Up and Down Stairs + Walking Safely Evaluate your level of independence and whether you still have a limp, instability when walking, or compensations. 🧠 Why are these tests important? These tests allow you to determine if you are ready to return to your normal activities or if you need to continue your knee rehabilitation. Many people who have undergone knee surgery for osteoarthritis believe they have recovered, but still experience pain, limping, or weakness. This video is ideal if: You've had a total knee replacement You've had a knee replacement due to wear and tear or osteoarthritis You're in phase 2 or phase 3 of rehabilitation You still have pain or a limp and don't know if it's normal You don't know if you can walk, climb stairs, or play sports safely 📉 What happens if you don't pass the tests? Don't worry, in the video I explain how to interpret the results and what exercises to do if you're still having trouble walking properly, if you're in pain, or if you're still limping. These tests are a form of self-assessment at home, and will give you clear guidance on your current condition.
