The anchovies are lightly marinated and cooked in a rich onion, tomato, and tamarind-based masala, making this curry the perfect companion for hot steamed rice. One small tip: Since the fish is marinated with lemon juice and curd, and tomatoes are also used in the gravy, reduce the tamarind slightly if you prefer a less tangy curry. Ingredients For Marinating the Fish 250 g anchovies (cleaned) 1 tbsp lemon juice 1 tbsp curd ½ tsp turmeric powder For curry: 2 tbsp oil 2 tbsp coarsely ground ginger and garlic 1 cup shallots, finely chopped 1 tomato, finely chopped 4 tbsp tamarind extract (adjust to taste) 4 tsp of pulimunchi home made powder Salt to taste Water as required Fresh curry leaves Garnish Fresh curry leaves Serve hot with steamed rice.
