In this episode of the Amazon Aviation Podcast (Ep. 007), we welcome Commander Mario Ivan, who began his career in the interior of Amazonas, in Borba, at a young age, when his father, a government inspector, hosted pilots at his home, at a time when there weren't even restaurants there. Throughout the conversation, he recalls the beginning of his career, marked by the support of several experienced pilots, and reflects on his contribution to the state: "I think that, in a few decades of work, I've already done something for my state." Mario Ivan also shares his experience with companies like Girassol and Rico Táxi Aéreo in the 1980s, when he flew aircraft such as the DC-3, until the founding of TAVAM. Among the aircraft he piloted are: Navajo, DC-3, Azteca, Seneca, Bandeirante (with more than 4,000 hours), Embraer Brasilia, and the Boeing 737-200, in which he accumulated approximately 3,800 flight hours. Today, alongside his son, Mário Ivan Jr., he leads the operational and maintenance areas of TAVAM, a rapidly growing company in the Northern region. A remarkable story, with direct reflections on the current economic scenario of the region and the experience of someone with the authority to point the way for the future of aviation in the Amazon.
