Roland & Julianna: A Bicycle Tour Across Europe PART 3: IN BRUGES

Today we depart from the spectacular city of Middelburg en route to Bruges, and a whole new country that we have never cycled in before. The day starts off with a heaping helping of that North Sea wind, and we ride along canals, over drawbridges to the ferry that will carry us over our last major inlet of the sea. Our route takes us along the coast, with wide open views and even a cast iron lighthouse before cutting inland. We ride through the town of Sluice, before following a broad and graceful tree-lined canal that takes us all the way into Bruges, under rainy skies. In Bruges, we take a rest day, staying at a lovely Air BnB in the center of the old town, and we spend the rest of the day and the next exploring this iconic, canal filled city.
