Pilot, Doctor & ATC team up to Save Infant mid flight on frequency! #atc

On August 4th, 2009 a Lear 35 was flying an infant from St. Thomas to Miami on a Lifeguard flight. At some point during the flight, the infant's condition deteriorated and the medics on board needed recommendations from a doctor. The pilot relayed vital medical info from those medics to ATC, who then relayed that to a doctor at Miami Children's Hospital. The doctor responded with advice which was passed on to the pilots, who relayed that to the medics. Bear in mind that CPR is being performed on the infant this whole time. The child's life was saved. LESSONS LEARNED: It never hurts to ask. Remember to think outside the box. By utilizing all resources available, thinking quickly, and staying calm, all parties involved saved a life. Another thing to remember is that CRM is not just the relationship between the flight crew. It is also the relationship to people in the cabin, ATC, FBOs, Flight Service, and countless other resources.
