Sunday 9 March 2025 Time: 22:15 Type: Beechcraft A23-19 Musketeer Sport III Owner/operator: Airlake Aero Inc Registration: N4784J Occupants: 1 Aircraft damage: Substantial Category: Accident Location: Near Rochester International Airport (RST/KRST), Rochester, MN Phase: Initial climb Nature: Private Departure airport: Rochester International Airport, MN (RST/KRST) It was a quiet Sunday night, March 9, 2025, when a Beechcraft A23-19 Musketeer Sport III, registered as N4784J, departed from Rochester International Airport in Minnesota. The single-engine aircraft, operated by Airlake Aero Inc., was conducting routine pattern work around the airport. At approximately 22:15 local time, shortly after taking off from Runway 31, the aircraft initiated a climbing right turn. However, moments later, something went wrong. The pilot, the sole occupant onboard, encountered engine issues mid-flight. As the aircraft struggled to maintain altitude, it began descending rapidly. Within seconds, the Beechcraft Musketeer crashed into the Oak Summit Golf Course, just beyond the airport's vicinity. The impact caused substantial damage to the airframe, yet miraculously, the pilot survived, sustaining only minor injuries. ADS-B data later confirmed the sequence of events, aligning with the FAA's report that engine trouble led to the accident. What began as a routine flight ended in an emergency landing among the trees—another stark reminder of the unpredictability of flight. https://asn.flightsafety.org/wikibase... https://www.kttc.com/2025/03/10/olmst...
